JR. ALEXANDER MITCHEL ALEX
A resident and native of St. Amant, he died on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Bluebonnet. He was 88 years old and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He later retired from the U.S. Federal Government as a Quality Control Inspector. Visiting at New River Baptist Church in St. Amant on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 9 am until 1pm. Pastors Buddy Sheriff and Wayne Talley will conduct the funeral service at 1pm. Private burial services to follow. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Shirley Trabeau Savoy, two daughters, Sheila Savoy Phillips and husband Denny and Roxie Savoy Ambeau and husband Richard, grandson, Jeremy Phillips, three granddaughters; Amanda Phillips-Pugh, Miranda and Rachel Ambeau and a great-grandson, Alexander Mitchel Pugh, three sisters; Alice Templet, Francis Gautreaux and Lucille Becnel and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Evalina Savoy, two sisters; Leeanna Richardson and Mabel Cambre, four brothers; Pete, Alfred, Buster and Jimmy Savoy. Pallbearers will be; Richard Ambeau, Denny Phillips, Jeremy Phillips, Paul LeBlanc, Blane Foster and Joe Savoy. Honorary pallbearers will be; Amanda Phillips-Pugh, Miranda and Rachel Ambeau, Alexander Mitchel Pugh and nephews. He was a member of New River Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and a member of the American Legion, Post 81. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New River Baptist Church Building Fund. Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales in charge of arrangements.
