Allen H. Stevens passed away at Magnolia Assisted Living in Gonzales, LA on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11:58 a.m. He was a native of St. Amant, LA and lifelong resident of Gonzales. He served in the Pacific Theatre in the United States Navy during WWII. He was retired from Exxon. He was a former auxiliary Gonzales Police officer and Ascension Parish Sheriff Deputy. A former member and president of the PTA at St. Theresa of Avila School. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6389, Past Commander of the American Legion Post 81, VFW Post 3693, Exxon Annuitant Club, and the Jambalaya Association. Visiting will be at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales, on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visiting on Saturday, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Michael Galea. Burial in the church cemetery. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen S. and Jeffery J. Walker; son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Donna B. Stevens; a sister, Melba S. Mooney; five grandchildren, Angela W. Marse and husband, Darren, Justin M. Bickham and wife, Laura, Michael Stevens, Katie S. Maynard and husband, Jesse, and Morgan T. Stevens; five great grandchildren, Natalie Marse, Caroline Marse, Breanna Graham, Vayda Maynard, and Eric M. Brown; sister-in-law, Carol R. Stevens; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Alberta L. "Bertie" Stevens; son, Timothy K. Stevens; parents, Pepo and Thelma Stevens; two brothers, Harold J. Stevens and Gene N. Stevens; and nephew, Kelby D. Stevens. Pallbearers will be Gene Stevens II, Brett Stevens, Darren Marse, Justin Bickham, Murphy Painter, and Rob Mooney. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Frederic and Len Matherne. A special thanks to the staff at Magnolia Assisted Living, Southern Care Hospice, MedPass Staffing, and his caregivers for all their care and love given to Mr. Allen.
