Byrdie Daigle Maw Maw Byrdie Decoteau Visit Guest Book
Maw Maw Byrdie peacefully slipped away from us on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Ascension Oaks Nursing Center. She was 88 and fought the good fight for a long time. Her spirit was strong, but her body had weakened. She will be sorely missed by friends and family, but not forgotten. We are blessed with many Maw Maw Byrdie stories that will keep her memory alive for years to come. She was a resident of Dutchtown who loved LSU football, the Saints, Atlanta Braves baseball and a good chicken gumbo. She leaves behind three sons and daughtersinlaw Sam and wife Eileen Tut, Teddy and wife Sharleen and Pat and wife Ranie a daughter and soninlaw, Carolyn LeBourgeois and husband Noah 10 grandchildren 14 greatgrandchildren three greatgreatgrandchildren two sisters and a brotherinlaw, Leona Hoffman, and Irene and John Devillier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wright Decoteau parents, Oscar and Luce Daigle brothers, Euclide, Edgar, Sidney, Abel and Oscar and sisters, Julie Austin, Josephine Melancon and Celeste Cubbage. Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 9:30 a.m. until a funeral Mass at noon. The family would like to thank Dr. Baird, her primary care provider, and Dr. Turner at Oschner Clinic, all of the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeths Hospital and everyone connected with Ascension Oaks. Thanks also to Life Source Services of Baton Rouge. The kindness and compassion shown to Maw Maw and her entire family is greatly appreciated.
