alignleftA native of Gonzales, and resident of Chauvin, he died on November 5, 2008 at Gulf States , LTAC of Houma. He was 89. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. After his military career, he went on to work for and retire from the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board as an equipment operator. Visitation will be held at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St . , Gonzales, on Friday, November 7, 2008 beginning at 10am. Deacon Thomas Labat will conduct religious services in the funeral home chapel at 1pm. Burial will follow in Hope Haven Cemetery, Hwy 30, Gonzales. He is survived by his daughter, Carol James and husband, Kenny, son, Clark A. Poche, Jr. and wife, Azalea, sister, Faye Avrard and husband Jules. Ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Ellen Poche, wife, Felma Mae Duplessis Poche, brother, Clarence Poche and sister, Lorraine Poche Gautreaux.
