Darrell Wayne Carmena, a resident of Gonzales, passed away March 27th, 2023, in Baton Rouge at the age of 72. He was born on November 7th, 1950.
Darrell was a loving father, grandfather, and devoted husband. In his spare time, Darrell maintained an immaculate yard. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry work, and LSU Tiger baseball and football! You could always catch him wearing his purple and gold. He was a skilled master mechanic and could fix anything with an engine. He honorably served in the United States Air Force from March 19th, 1970 to February 28, 1974. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Patty Carmena; sister, Dianne Melancon; son, Jason Carmena and his wife, Lisa; daughter, Jennifer Wagley; step-daughters, Melissa Dunn, Sarah Norman and her husband, Spencer, and Kayla Fuselier Clouatre and her husband, Courtney; and 6 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Wilton Carmena; sister, Darlene McMichael; sister, Judy Cefalu; and brother, Jerry Carmena.
Visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2023, at Ascension Funeral Home in Gonzales, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park.
In honor of Darrell’s love for the Tigers, please come in your favorite purple and gold attire.
