Donald Babin

Donald Paul Babin, age 81, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his home at 8:35 a.m. A resident and native of Gonzales, LA, he retired as owner of Babin's Food Center. In his lifetime, Donald had many hobbies including dancing, hunting, fishing, woodworking, traveling, and played drums in several bands. He was the previous owner of several businesses in Gonzales including Babin's Food Center, Radio Shack, True Value Hardware, and Babin's Airport. He was a pioneer in aviation in Ascension Parish. Visiting at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1022 N. Burnside Ave., Gonzales, LA, on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Father Eric V. Gyan. Entombment at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, Gonzales, LA. Survived by his two sons, Marlen J. Babin and Kenn B. Babin; daughter-in-law, Tracy Babin; two brothers, S. L. "Pookie" Babin Jr. and wife, Connie, and Ronald S. "Pie" Babin; three grandchildren, Brandi M. Babin and husband, Aaron, Justin M. Babin and wife, Alicia, and Kylee Alannah Babin. Preceded in death by parents, S. L. "Snap" and Inez Marie Babin; sister, Laverne Guidry and her husband, Pat Guidry; a son, Deputy Troy Michael Babin of Kissimmee, FL; and grandson, Jarred L.
