Doris Daily Lee Matherne

Doris Daily Lee Matherne, age 83, passed away at 1:25 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024, at OLOL Ascension. Born on April 16, 1941, in Galveston, Texas, Doris was a proud native of Galveston and a long-time resident of Sorrento, Louisiana.

A devoted caregiver, Doris was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her passions for faith and family defined her life. Doris cherished her friends, whom she considered family, and found joy in spending time with loved ones, gardening, tending to her flowers, playing Bourré with friends, and trying her luck at the casino. Nothing brought her more happiness than the sight of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Ascension Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. On Friday, October 11, a Rosary will be prayed at St. Anne Catholic Church in Sorrento at 10:45 AM, with visitation starting at 11 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM. Doris will be laid to rest at Holy Rosary in St. Amant, Louisiana.

She is survived by her children: Carol (Perry) Moore, Terral "Sudie" (Andy) Rushing, Emma (Darren) LeBourgeois, Mary (Darren) Nickens, Louis "Manny" (Elizabeth) Lee, and Charles (DeAnna) Lee; as well as her stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings, Wiley Daily and Alice Campbell.

Doris was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis F. Lee, Sr. and Len R. Matherne, Jr.; her daughter, Florence Lee; her parents, Charles and Florence (DeBate) Daily; and her brothers, Jimmy Daily and Bobby Daily.

Pallbearers will be Doris' grandsons: Tyler Moore, Clint Rushing, Brandon LeBourgeois, Jordan LeBourgeois, Justin Graham, Colton Lee, Hayden Lee, Landon Lee and grandson-in-law, Cody Prest.
