Dorothy Matherne Dot, Goumay Roussel

Dot Roussel, 91, a native of Gramercy and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, while surrounded by family. She was a longtime employee of General Chemical and Blue Cross Credit unions. She was one of the most loving, kind and caring persons who liked nothing better than helping those in need. She is survived by three daughters and two sonsinlaw, JoAnne Blouin, Sharon and Dennis Edmon, and Nadine and John Tullier eight grandchildren, Wendall, Randy, David and wife Toni Blouin, Sherri and husband Steve Clark, Robin Michel, Ashley and husband Jason Danos, Paula and husband Michael Nolan and Kevin Tullier 16 greatgrandchildren, Taylor, Tori, Brennan, Haley, Rachel and Hunter Blouin, Brittany Pitre, Stephanie and Stephen Clark, Courtney, Barrett and Brooklyn Michel, Regan and Morgan Danos, and Jack and Katie Nolan a greatgreatgrandson, Grayson Michel siblings, Glory Montz, Mary Pike, and Louis and wife Jessie Matherne, and sistersinlaw, Margaret and Doris Matherne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Roussel parents, Louis and Seraphine Martin Matherne siblings, Floyd, Claude, Alton and Ned Matherne, Irene Keller and Florette Nickens. Pallbearers will be Wendall, Randy and David Blouin, Kevin Tullier, Michael Nolan, Steve Clark and Jason Danos. Visitation at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 8833 Goodwood Blvd., on Friday, Nov. 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 26, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., at 10 a.m. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Goumay loved nothing more than cooking Sunday dinner for her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing and crocheting. The family would like to thank her caregivers are La Maison and Angels Are We. She will be greatly missed by all because she touched so many lives.
