Ella Mae "Mae" Fontenot, 94, of Maurepas, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas on Friday, November 1, 2024, with her loved ones nearby. Born on April 28, 1930, to Decatur and Maude Phillips Parsons, Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Mae was a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She had a deep love for Gospel music, playing the piano since the age of nine, and was an active and proud member of Maurepas Baptist Church. Her faith and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her sweet, loving, and generous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbert Fontenot, and her son, Rodney Fontenot. Mae is survived by her granddaughter, Ashley Fontenot Robertson and her husband Matthew, as well as her great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Johanna, Audrey, Matthew Jr., and Ava Mae, she was also the sister of the late Stella (Faye) Allo, Dora Dameron, Jack Parsons, Lonnie Parsons, and Thomas Graves, and is survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held in Mae's honor at Maurepas Baptist Church on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery.
Mae's family is comforted knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she so loved. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
