A resident of Gonzales, Gertie died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Flannery Oaks Guest Home, Baton Rouge at the age of 85. The Jumonville name is synonymous with fine baked goods throughout Ascension and St. James Parishes. The French bread recipe alone dates back four generations. Gertie delivered bread by horse and buggy as a child with her father in St. James Parish. Gertie will be sadly missed by family, friends and her community. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St. , Gonzales. Visiting on Wednesday will be from 10:00am until 12:30 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Gary Belsome will celebrate a mass of Christian burial at 1:00pm at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales. Burial will follow in Hope Haven Cemetery on Hwy 30, Gonzales.She is survived by, three Daughters and sons-in-law; Mary and Chester Melancon, Juanita and Clifton Landry and Kathy Theriot, Eight sons and daughters-in-law; Lynn and Pat Jumonville, Jimmy and Phyllis Jumonville, Lonnie and Meryl Jumonville, Robert Jumonville, Gerald Jumonville, William Billy and Teresa Jumonville, Michael and Brenda Jumonville and Dennis Jumonville. Twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles T. and Ines Landry Jumonville, husband, Wallace C. Jumonville, grandson, Anthony P. Melancon, granddaughter, Lillie A. Jumonville, three sisters; Jeanette M. St. Pierre, Margaret J. DiGiovanni and Marie Lois Schwartz, a brother, Charles Pete Jumonville and son-in-law, Wayne Theriot. Pallbearers will be Paul, Blair , Chad , Jeremy, Troy , Rodney and Bryan Jumonville.
