Her soul was lifted up on angels wings, but her bright spirit remains here in our hearts.
A long time resident of Gonzales and a native of Romeville, Gladys Rome Fife, 92, passed away Tuesday evening, December 30, 2008. Visitation at St. Marks Catholic Church, Friday, January 2, 2009, at 8:00 am until a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am, conducted by Rev. Gary T. Belsome. Recitation of the rosary by the St. Theresa Catholic Daughters will be at 9:00 am. Interment in Hope Haven Gardens of Memory in Gonzales. Gladys was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church and a former Eucharistic Minister; a member and Past-President of the St. Theresa Ladies Altar Society; Past-Vice-Regent of the Catholic Daughters; Past-President of the Home Demonstration Club; Member of the American Legion Auxiliary; member of Senior Friends; President and manager of RF Properties, Fife Properties, and an officer of Fife-Spaht Insurance all in Gonzales and a member of the Business and Professional Women Organization. She is survived by her daughters; Janice Logan of Pass Christian, MS, Anita Spaht and son-in-law Dale Spaht of Gonzales, and Patricia van Aken and son-in-law Antony van Aken of Mobile, AL, and her son Paul Pete Fife and daughter-in-law Sharon Fife of Gonzales. She is also survived by grandchildren; Charlotte Logan of Pass Christian, MS, Lisa and husband C.D. Schempf of Houston, TX, Joanna and husband Paul Whaley of Pass Christian, Ashley S. Reider of Gonzales, Homer D. Spaht, III of Gonzales, Vivienne Fife of New York City, N.Y., and Tyler Fife of Gonzales, Jamie and John Rosado of Mason, OH. Great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jacob Burleson of Pass Christian, Logan and Sophia Schempf of Houston, TX; Charlie and Abigail Whaley of Pass Christian, Ashton Reider of Gonzales and Emily and Julia Rosado of Mason, OH and a very special relative Shirley Bourque of Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, P.D. Fife; her parents Dennis and Annette Rome; a grandson Phillip Fife and son-in-law Charles Logan. Special readings by Sister Ameline Theriot and Roy Stern. Pallbearers will be Tyler Fife, Homer Spaht, III, C.D. Schempf, Paul Whaley, Joey Rome, and Ed Rome.
