Irvin Michel

Irvin Wayne Michel, age 75, a native of Ascension Parish and a resident of Prairieville, passed away peacefully at his home March 28, 2023. He is a United States Army Veteran, a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. After almost 20 years of service, he retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital in the plant operations department. All that knew him always spoke highly of “Mr. Wayne” and his work ethic. He loved helping others. He loved being in his woodworking shop creating beautiful things. Gardening was always a passion that he shared with his grandchildren and keeping the grass mowed. Spending time with his grandchildren was the highlight of his day and they kept him smiling, visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W New River, Gonzales, LA April 3, 2023, from 9:00 am until service at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at New River Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his children Kevin Michel and Angelia (Shad) Sona, his sisters, Glenda “Sue” Michel, and Patty Jean Sheets, Brother-in-law Gerry Kramer, his three grandchildren Paige Michel, Cami Sona, and Cohen Sona, two great-grandchildren Easton Soley and Thea Soley, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Eugene A. and Marilyn (Norwood) Michel, his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret E. (Lambert) Michel, and his sister Charline (Michel) Kramer.
