Johnny "Tee John" Harms Jr.
August 13, 1953 - January 1, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Johnny N. Harms Jr., 71, of Geismar, Louisiana. He passed away in his home after a courageous battle with cancer on January 1, 2025, surrounded by loving family members.
Born on August 13, 1953, in Wessington, South Dakota, Johnny was the oldest of 2 children. He traveled and moved often as his father served for 26 years in the US Army and US Air Force. During his stay in Seguin, TX, Johnny met his wife Joy Cofield Harms. Together they established their home in Geismar, La. His career as an equipment specialist spanned over 35 years with Agrico Chemical. He raised a family and lived his life continuously seeking God. Johnny's passion for music, playing the guitar, meticulous yard care, the outdoors, as well as woodwork, continues through his sons and grandsons; His love for a good lecture, argument, analysis, creation, and science through his daughter and granddaughters. Most importantly, the love of God has been instilled in his children's hearts. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. His laugh is unforgettable, and he will be greatly missed.
Johnny is survived by his former spouse, Joy Harms; his children David Murphy, Jeremiah Harms, and Jerusalem Hoffmann; one sister Jacy Johnson; several grandchildren, nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
