Joseph Henderson, Jr.

Joseph Louis Henderson, a resident and native of Prairieville, LA, died Friday, May 13, 2022, at the age of 93, at Baton Rouge General Hospital at Mid-city under the care of Baton Rouge Hospice Butterfly Unit.

Louis was a loving and caring father, grandfather, friend and neighbor, a retired boiler maker, veteran of the United States Army stationed in Japan.

A visitation will be Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 10:00am until the memorial service at 12:00pm at Meadows Chapel United Methodist Church, 16172 LA-73 Prairieville, LA.

Food will be provided for friends and family at the church after service. No graveside procession.

In lieu of flowers any donations will be made to the Meadows Chapel United Methodist Church.

Louis was survived his by 3 children, Kenneth Henderson (Phoebe), David Henderson (Anne), and Darlene Henderson Long (Mac); son-in-Law, Charles (Chuckie Parker); sisters, Elva Michael, Margaret Delaune, Gertie Savoy, Verna Tircuit (Connie); girlfriend and dancing partner, Mrs. Rita Gragg; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Evelyn Dawn Habert Henderson Edwards; loving wife of 42 years, Ora Applewhite Peacock Henderson; father, Joseph Louis Henderson Sr.; mother, Lottie Braud Henderson; daughters, Barbara (Barbie)Henderson and Rene Peacock Parker; sons, Ronnie Peacock and Ricky Peacock; and grandson: Charles (Chip) Parker.
