A resident of St. Amant, he died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was 78. Visitation will be at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, on Monday, Jan. 26, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday in the chapel from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by Brother Bledsoe and Brother Wiley. Burial in Lake Cemetery. Survived by his son, Daniel H. Lavigne, of St. Amant; three brothers, F.G. Preacher Lavigne, of St. Amant, John A. Lavigne, of Dutchtown, and Lawrence Red Lavigne, of Baton Rouge; and six sisters, Hilda Weishar, Lois Avara and Leontine Weaver, all of Denham Springs, Joyce Andrews, of Livingston, Clara Buratt, of St. Amant, and Virginia Meche, of Gonzales. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mercedean Waguespack, of Gonzales. Preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Gertrude Lavigne; two brothers, Emile Jr. and Perry Lavigne, who were of St. Amant; and a sister, Glorydean L. Templet, who was of St. Amant.
