A resident of Gonzales, he died at his home on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. He was 78 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a retired operator from Ormet Corporation after 35 years of service. Visiting will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009 from 6pm until 9pm at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River Street. Visitation on Saturday will begin at 9am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am with Father Boby Alex, celebrant. Entombment will follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. He is survived by his four sons and daughters-in-law; Winton and Gail Lavigne, Mark and Leslie Lavigne, Troy Lavigne and Tony Lavigne, brother, Allie Lavigne, three sisters; Agnes All, Ethel Andrews and Ann Carbo. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Ty and his wife Shannon, Brandi, Shannon, Karly, Kristopher, Danielle and Amanda Lavigne and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Lambert Lavigne, parents, Robert and Noemie Lavigne and two brothers, Welmon and Paul Lavigne. Pallbearers will be his sons, Winton, Mark, Troy and Tony and grandsons, Ty and Kristopher Lavigne. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
