Leo Poirrier Sr.

Leo Camille Poirrier, Sr., was born August 13, 1928 and died peacefully at his beloved home surrounded by his family on May 17, 2017. He was 88. He was a native and lifelong resident of Donaldsonville. Mr. Poirrier was a graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and an Army National Guard Veteran. He was a retired residential electrician. Mr. Poirrier is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ella Mae Denoux Poirrier; and his four children, Carlin Poirrier Mury (Rodney), Leo Camille Poirrier, Jr. (Wendy), Gayle Marie Poirrier, and Achille Joseph Poirrier (Lisa). His family also includes four granddaughters, Alison Lemann (Matthew), Ashley LeBoeuf (Troy), Alyssa Lynn Poirrier, and Alaina Leigh Poirrier and seven great grandchildren, Ella, Elise and Emerson Lemann and Jackson, Camille, Harrison and Genevieve LeBoeuf. Mr. Poirrier is also survived by one sister, Doris Poirrier Hymel (Russell) and two brothers, Lynn Peter Poirrier, Sr. (Jess) and Lester John Poirrier, Sr. (Lorraine); and his sister-in-law, Frances Hymel Poirrier. Mr. Poirrier was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Tregre and Leo George Poirrier; and his brother Louis Joseph Poirrier, Sr. Visitation will take place at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 716 Mississippi Street, Donaldsonville, Louisiana on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:00 a.m. with an inurnment in the church mausoleum to follow. The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers and all of the family and friends who took such good care of Mr. Poirrier and his family throughout his journey.
