A resident of Sorrento and a native of Gonzales, he died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was 87. Visitation at St. Anne Catholic Church, Sorrento, on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Galea, celebrant, assisted by Deacon Jerry Braud. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, La. 30, Gonzales. Survived by two sons and daughtersinlaw, Colbert and Edye Gautreaux, and Gabriel and Jewel Gautreaux sister, Anna Lee Gautreaux Babin former daughterinlaw, Ingrid Gautreaux grandchildren, Sandra and Bill Sullivan, Michelle and Shane Medlin, Nicole and Michael Pate, Colbert Bert Gautreaux II, Simmie and Kyle Soileau, and Gabriel Damien and Ashley Gautreaux and 13 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Marie E. TNiney Gautreaux and parents, Louis and Octavia Gautreaux. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion GautreauxWilliams Post 81 in Gonzales. He was also an avid gardener.
