Mabel H. Poche, passed away peacefully at the age of 94, on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Ascension Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 9:29 a.m. A native of White Castle, LA and resident of Gonzales, LA. She was a retired LA Practical Nurse. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 4:45 p.m. conducted by the Ladies Altar Society. Visiting on Wednesday, at St. Mark Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Father Rubin Reynolds. Entombment at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, Gonzales, LA. Survived by her daughter, Jeannette Diez Street; two sons, Melvin John "Junior Boy" Diez Jr. and wife, Jean, and Randall Mark Diez Sr.; six grandchildren, Rhonda Kay Arceneaux Gautreau, Estelle Cecile Diez, Derek John Diez, Brady Joseph Diez, Bryan Paul Diez, Randall Mark Diez Jr.; ten great grandchildren, Amber Denae Gautreau, Colin Michael Bone, Dakota Smothers, Abby Diez, Cameron Diez, Josie Diez, Olivia Diez, Brock Diez, Jori Lynn Arceneaux, and Toby Jeaux Arceneaux; and four great-great grandchildren, Weston Jeaux Arceneaux, Lincoln James Arceneaux, Nicolynn Dava Henson, and Beau Eli Smothers. Preceded in death by her husband, Larry J. Poche Sr.; parents, Jefferson Joseph and Faustine Daigle Hernandez; grandson, Lawrence Joseph "Joey" Arceneaux Jr.; four sisters, Bella Hernandez Kelley, Esma Hernandez Kimble, Bessie Hernandez Lambert, and Sophie Hernandez Ducote; and three brothers, Nelcon, Whitney, and Roy Sr. Hernandez. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society. Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Please visit the online guestbook.
