Miller Lambeth Shamburger

Miller Lambeth Shamburger was taken from us suddenly on Wednesday Sept 6, 2023.  He was reunited with God and his loving spouse of over 50 years.  He was 88 years old and a resident of St. Amant, Louisiana.

He proudly served our country in two different branches of the service, first as a United States Marine, and then as an officer in the United States Air Force.  While pursuing his careers, he was married to his lifelong love Bobbye Jean Teekel Shamburger  who preceded him in death.  Together they raised four beautiful children.  He spent his second career as an educator at all levels from high school through college.  In his third career, RETIREMENT, he spent countless hours as a volunteer in nursing homes, retirement centers and in many homes that needed God’s word and grace. 

He would often say  “I’m visiting the old folks,” and we would just laugh and say “Dad, you are the old folks”. 

His legacy continues with his four loving children: Daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Rigdon, Robert Shamburger, Sr. (and wife Michele), Mark Shamburger, Timothy Shamburger (and wife Debbie), 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.  Pallbearers are his grandsons, Robert “Beau” Shamburger, Nathaniel Shamburger, Brandon Shamburger, Ryan Rigdon, his great grandsons Chase Shamburger and Laken Shamburger. 

The honorary pallbearers are his grandsons Joseph “Joey” Shamburger, Ethan Shamburger, Caleb Rigdon and Alexander King. 

Visitation will be held at Ascension Funeral Home located at 426 West New River Road, Gonzales, LA 70737 on Friday Sep 8  2023 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and at New River Baptist Church located at 45270 LA-429, St Amant, LA 70774 on Saturday Sep 9, 2023, from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon with services commencing at noon.
