Presley Bates

Presley C. "PC" Bates, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at St. Clare Manor in Baton Rouge, LA at 12:20 a.m. A native of Arkansas and resident of Prairieville, LA. He was retired from Cooper T. Smith Stevedoring. Visiting at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA, on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, Gonzales. Survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Mary Lee Bates; four children, Mary Gail Carpenter, Pam (Johnny) Cagnolatti, Alan (Trudy) Bates, and Rhonda (Jeff) Evanchak; eleven grandchildren, Roy Michel Jr., Yvette Michel, Rani Carpenter, Guy (Heather) Carpenter, Brian Carpenter, Stacey (Joe) Bumpus, Darrin (Emilie) Cagnolatti, Sabrina (Justin) Lea, Alex Bates, Lindsey (Derek) LeBlanc, and Brad (Amy) Wintz; numerous great grandchildren including, Anna Catherine Bumpus, Liam Bumpus, Cadence Cagnolatti, Chase Cagnolatti, Dhiren Waldhelm and Mathew Wintz; and a sister, Linda Johnson-Pilios. Preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Ruby Bates; brothers, Leslie M., Wesley L., and Jimmy R. Bates. Pallbearers will be Darrin Cagnolatti, Alex Bates, Brad Wintz, Ton T.
