Ray Cuvillier

Ray Cuvillier Jr., loving husband, father and grandfather was born on November 2, 1961, and died on September 20, 2024. He was 62 years old. He was born in Morgan City, Louisiana and lived in Gonzales, Louisiana. He graduated from Maurepas High School in 1980.

Ray lived life to the fullest. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching LSU sports. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling with their friends, Vernon, and Martha Webb. When home, Ray liked to be outdoors working on something, whether it be his latest furniture project, working in the yard, growing plants in his backyard, or just visiting with neighbors on the back patio. He also treasured spending time playing with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He worked in collections for banks and credit unions over the years and was recently retired from Affordable Furniture in Gonzales. He worshiped at the Church International in St. Amant. Ray loved being around people, he was a friendly face to everyone, and he never met a stranger. When you were with Ray, you were welcomed like family.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Tammy Gautreau Cuvillier, his parents Ray Sr and Lola Cuvillier, and children Brandon Prettelt (Chelsea), Brittany Cuvillier Leonard (Joey), Maegan Prettelt DeLaune (Shawn) and Kaitlyn Cuvillier Spence (Len). He loved his grandchildren, Charity Prettelt, Reid and Demi Leonard, Emma and Alivia DeLaune, and Calum and Corbin Spence. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa Cuvillier and his in-laws, Bernard and Betty Gautreau.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Aristle Joseph Cuvillier Jr and Blanche Phillma den Mayon, his maternal grandparents, Everett J Verett St and Lola Maria Aucoin Verett, and his sister, Mona Cuvillier Picou.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Ascension Funeral Home on Saturday September 28, 2024 from 9 to 11 am. He will then be laid to rest at Cornerview Cemetery in Gonzales.

Pallbearers will be: Shawn DeLaune, Brandon Prettelt, Tyler Heagy, Brent Gautreau, Joey and Reid Leonard (Honorary Pallbearers: Calum and Corbin Spence.)

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Church International or The Carpenter House.
