Ray Paul Mayers

Ray Paul Mayers, 75, lifelong resident of St. Amant "Duckroost" passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on 10/09/2024. Ray was well known as a cherished and respected educator in the field of Agriscience and was the FFA advisor at St. Amant High School for 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering on his Model A Fords and was a member and past president of the Red Stick Model A Ford Club. 

He was a passionate pro-life Catholic who started the baby bottle drive at St. Mark Catholic Church where he was a Knights of Columbus member. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane (Moore) Mayers; daughters: Julie Brown (Billy Brown), Kristie Regini (John Regini), and Laurie Roberts (James "Robby" Roberts); grandchildren: Kendall, Jefferey “J.T.," Audrey, Johnny, Gloria, Ryleigh, Kayleigh, Layton, and Amelie. He is preceded in death by his parents Bernice (Hebert) Mayers and Lawrence Mayers; sister: Mary Lee Guidry. 

Public visitation will be on October 15, 2024, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, LA. Visitation will resume on 10/16/2024 from 9:00-11:00 AM with mass following at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 LA-621, Gonzales, LA. Interment will follow at Serenity Oaks Cemetery, 15304 Hwy 73, Prairieville, LA. Ray will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
