Richard Kuss

Richard Kuss, 71, Former Saline Mayor Richard E. Kuss, 71, died March 18, 2023, at his home in Ascension Parish, Louisiana.
A celebration of life will be held at 12pm on April 8th at the American Legion in Saline, Michigan.

Mr. Kuss was born on March 7th, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to Elmer and Geraldine Kuss. He graduated from South Lake High School in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.  Rick was very passionate about public service and community engagement.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University.  Rick always believed in furthering his education and most recently was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science in Emergency Management with Concentration in Archeology on March 1st from the State University of Sheffield.

He spent many years active in the community in Saline, Michigan.  He served as a City Council Member and Mayor of Saline.
He worked several years for FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security as a project development manager and historic and environmental specialist.  He provided relief that assisted many people in major disasters across the country. He is survived by his 2 children, Rick Jr., Kimberly, and 8 grandchildren.
