Samantha Blanchard Sammie Young
Samantha Sammie Young, a loving wife and proud mother, died at the Baton Rouge General Hospital Saturday, April 21 2012 at 6:17 p.m. following a short illness. She was 81, a native of St. Amant and a resident of Gonzales. Samantha enjoyed a distinguished career as a product sales specialist at Marchands Building Specialties. She was a longtime member of the St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church Choir and a member of the Pink Ladies Society. Preceded in death by her parents, Howard Joseph Blanchard, Sr. and Ruth Rose Bourgeois Blanchard of St. Amant and her dear friend Barbara Bourgeois Schexnaydre, of Gonzales. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 61 years, Lloyd R. Young, Sr. three daughters and sonsinlaw, Lynne and husband Paul Roux, Baton Rouge, Cynthia Noonie and husband Larry Babin, of Gonzales, and Rhonda and husband David Harrington of Bayou Pigeon one son and daughterinlaw, Lloyd R. Buddy Young Jr. and wife Michele, of St. Amant three brothers and sistersinlaw Howard Joseph Joe Blanchard, Jr. and wife Betty, of St. Amant, Louis Blanchard and wife Pat, of St. Amant and Raymond Blanchard and wife Sharyn of Beaumont, Texas ten grandchildren, Marcus Roux, Matthew Roux, Joel Babin and wife Sheryl, Amy Babin Smith and husband Brad, and Michael A. Young, Melissa Babin Singletary and husband Kim, Jarrod Babin and wife Terri, Peter Trey Bahlinger and wife Cara, Scott Harrington and wife Amanda, Cory Harrington and wife Stephanie and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friend Mrs. Phenie Lieux of Gonzales. Services will be held Tuesday, April 24 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gonzales with visitation at 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Internment ceremonies will follow at Hope Haven cemetery.
