Vera Banerian Melton "Ila"

Vera Banerian Melton, "Ila", passed away on August 12, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born on August 6, 1930, to John and Helen Banerian in Milwaukee, WI.

Vera was the daughter of an Armenian immigrant and was one of six children. In 1951, Vera met the love of her life, William "Bill" J. Melton, Sr at Bradford Beach. Bill and Vera went on to have two children, William J. Melton, Jr., and Cheryl Melton.

Vera enjoyed playing the drums, piano, crocheting, sewing, baking, and cooking. Her nickname, "Ila", came from her granddaughter Talene trying to tell her that she loved her. Ila was never afraid to try something new and always let her joyful spirit shine on those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Melton; son, William J. Melton, Jr. and wife, Toni Melton; granddaughters, Melanie Ferguson and husband, Tyler, Talene Kaltakjian, and Angelle Kaltakjian;  and great-grandson, Aulden Ray.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William J. Melton, Sr. and her grandson, John Kaltakjian “Baby John”.
