Weber P. Mansur Jr. 1926-2022
We mourn the loss of our family Patriarch, Weber P. Mansur Jr. who passed away peacefully Monday, September 19, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He lived life to the fullest for nearly 96 years.
“Paw-Paw’ Weber led by example through his constant faith and incredible generosity. He loved to tell a joke or two, dressed impeccably, and enjoyed cooking for his family. Our family attended St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church where he was known to parade all eight children down the aisle for Sunday Mass. He was a Manresa retreatant and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Weber was born to Mamie (Smith) Mansur Bourgeois and Weber P. Mansur Sr. November 16, 1926. He attended St. Agnes Catholic School and graduated from Catholic High School in 1944 where he lettered in swimming and boxing. He joined the Navy shortly after graduating and served aboard the USS Butte in the Pacific Theatre. Weber was proud to be a WWII Navy Veteran and carried that allegiance to the Baton Rouge Fire Department where he served for 30 years, retiring as the Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau.
Faith, family, good music, dancing, cooking, and a love of sports (especially golf, the New York Yankees, and Redemptorist Athletics) brought him great joy.
Preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 61 years Ramona (Mire) Mansur, his loving son Britt James Mansur, and his only sibling Donald J. Mansur.
Survived by his devoted wife Vercie (Talbot) Mansur, his sister-in-law Shirley (Braud) Mansur, his children - Steve Mansur & Peggy Howell, Gip & Carolyn (Hussey) Mansur, Claude & Debbie (Mansur) Seals, Vickie (Mansur) LeBlanc, Kevin & Monette (Mansur) Celestin, Weber P. “Cooter” & Myra (McClure) Mansur III, Van “Boo” & Michelle (Landry) Mansur, JoAnne (Mistretta) Jumonville, twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
